Kat's professional background includes more than 14 years with the Santa Clara County Fire Department as a Firefighter/Fire Captain. After taking early retirement, she has continued to devote her time to community service, specifically in the area of environmentalism, sustainability, and climate justice. She served as a Climate & Sustainability Policy Advisor for the Office of Mayor Sam Liccardo of the City of San Jose, working on City Council preparation and policy, and researching energy and environmental issues. Kat was appointed as Associate Director in January 2021. She looks forward to helping the District fulfill its mission.
